Using methods (A) and (B), where we remove the old window completely, install a bottom pan that keeps your sill from ever rotting, cut back your interior trim as needed, and then install the window back caulking the flange so that water and air can never penetrate. Then we properly flash around the window to tie into your current WRB (weather resistant barrier) so that you can rest assured that you’ll never have a leak.

Many window replacement companies cut directly around the windows, cut back the interior trim as needed and then remove the flange from the window (which increases the likelihood of water penetration exponentially), butt the window directly to the interior trim and screw it in from the inside. Although this method is widely used and very fast it means that the only thing keeping water out is caulking.
